Overview
'Mwangati' is the Swahili name for the Terminalia tree that stands proudly overlooking the sea, giving shade around the swimming pool. Since it is at the centre of the magnificent view, we felt it only fitting to name the house after it.
Practical, homely, and welcoming, with many places to eat, drink, relax and have fun. We are very proud of the simple finishes and practical design, and we hope for it to be enjoyed by you and many others.
Dining
Self-catering at Mwangati House is like no other. We have all the cutlery, crockery and glassware necessary, and our amazing house team will help in any way they can to create and serve the most delicious meals.
We aim to make your self-catered stay as easy and relaxed as possible for you. Food menus can be discussed according to guests' preferences and we can arrange the shopping ready for your arrival. Giving you more time to truly enjoy your time with us.
Our in-house chef, Charo, will help you source the best fresh produce and seafood Kilifi has to offer.
Wake up to a delicious breakfast of fresh tropical fruit platters, amongst other things. Later enjoy a lazy lunch by the pool with the local fisherman's catch of the day. Finally, end the day with an atmospheric BBQ dinner set under the stars.
If you wish not to think about the food until it is enjoyed at the table, you can opt for a fully catered stay where we prepare and provide a complete menu of deliciously fresh, locally-sourced meals, just for you.

Meet the team
Charo
Charo is the Head Chef. He has worked for the family since 2013 and has a wide repertoire of cooking skills; from Sushi and delicious seafood to salads and baking. He will prepare and cook all meals, with the capable help of Christine as sous chef.
Julia
Julia is the Head housekeeper, and the main port of call during your stay. Julia lives on site and knows all there is to know about the house as she has been here since 2014. She will welcome you with a beautiful smile and is happy to help with anything you need.
Christine
Christine is based between the kitchen and housekeeping. She started at Mwangati in 2021 to create the perfect team needed to look after you during your stay. She loves to be in the kitchen but is also a great help outside of the kitchen too.
Alex
Alex is the Maître d', he will be on hand throughout your stay for table and drinks service. He is always happy to help where needed and has been a great recent addition to the team. He can even treat you to delicious cocktails!
Sharif & Nico
Sharif & Nicholas keep the swimming pool and lovely grounds of Mwangati in top condition. They both have serious green fingers, made evident by the gardens, and you will often see them assisting the rest of the team when needed.
Jafari & Hussein
Jafari & Hussein are Mwangati House's night watchmen, they patrol the grounds at night for added safety for the property and our guests.
